At Boston Logan, Delta's New England hub, three of the four terminals share one security zone. The fourth, Terminal A, is properly separate — with one real exception if you're flying Delta.
At a glance
- Terminals B, C and E: connected to each other behind security, "so long as the connection was booked through the same reservation and any checked luggage will be transported to the connecting flight by the airline" (Massport). Moving between them is a walk or a short ride, with no second security line.
- Terminal A: not connected to the other three behind security. Normally, getting there means leaving security — either the pedestrian walkways between the terminals or a free shuttle bus — then going through security again at the other end.
- The Delta exception: Delta runs a free bus between the gate areas of Terminal A and Terminal E. Travellers report it stays behind security. Delta's pages don't say which passengers may use it, so ask Delta. Delta's Boston update page says it runs 4:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily, stopping at Gates A13 to A22 and normally Gate E13 (another Delta page gives slightly different hours, so check with Delta).
- Arriving from abroad, connecting onward: passport control, baggage claim, customs, then rechecking bags before your next flight.
- BOS's passport-control wait: half of passengers were through within 15 minutes; one passenger in ten waited about 37 minutes or more (GateCast estimate from US Customs and Border Protection wait data, Sep 2025 to Sep 2026).
Three terminals together, one properly apart
Logan's Terminals B, C and E are genuinely connected — Massport's own site says passengers moving between them can stay behind security "so long as the connection was booked through the same reservation and any checked luggage will be transported to the connecting flight by the airline". Terminal A is different: it's Delta's own terminal, and it isn't linked to the other three without leaving security first. The normal route is the pedestrian walkways between the terminals, or Massport's free shuttle bus, which generally runs every 5 to 6 minutes, according to Massport — either way, you'll clear security again once you arrive.

Arriving internationally
Follow these steps in order.
- Everyone arriving from abroad: international arrivals come in through Terminal E. Go through passport control.
- Everyone: collect your bags, then clear customs.
- If you're connecting onward: recheck your bags with your airline.
- If you're connecting onward: either take the Delta shuttle to Terminal A (ask Delta if you can use it) or leave security and go through it again at your next terminal.

Tips
- Flying Delta between Terminal A and an international flight at Terminal E? Ask Delta about its free shuttle bus between the two terminals before assuming you need to leave security.
- Anyone else connecting to or from Terminal A should plan for a proper security line again.
- Landing internationally, build in time for customs and the bag recheck, on top of whatever route you're taking to your next terminal.
