At Salt Lake City, Delta's mountain-west hub, which concourse you're in matters more than how. Delta mostly uses Concourse A; most other airlines use Concourse B.
At a glance
- Check your boarding pass. Delta is mostly in Concourse A — including its international gates — but also has a presence in B. Alaska, American, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest and United are mostly in Concourse B.
- Changing between Concourse A and Concourse B: ask airport staff for the shortest route.
- Arriving from abroad, connecting onward: you'll clear customs, then go through TSA security again at a dedicated International Arrivals checkpoint before reaching your next gate.
- SLC's passport-control wait: half of passengers were through within 17 minutes; one passenger in ten waited about 36 minutes or more (GateCast estimate from US Customs and Border Protection wait data, Sep 2025 to Sep 2026).
Two concourses, mostly split by airline
Salt Lake City is finishing a complete rebuild, done in phases since 2020: one terminal building, two long concourses (A and B), replacing the airport's older five-concourse layout. The airport's own fact sheet gives Concourse A 47 gates. Concourse B is still being finished: the fact sheet says its last seven gates are scheduled to open on 27 October 2026. Gate numbers and opening dates change, so check slcairport.com.
Delta carries close to 70% of SLC's traffic and is mostly in Concourse A — 25 gates in the west end, including its six international gates — though it also has a presence and a Sky Club in Concourse B. Alaska, American, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest and United are mostly in Concourse B. Check your boarding pass.
If your connection needs to go from A to B (or back), ask airport staff which route to take.
Arriving internationally
Follow these steps in order. SLC has a separate checkpoint at ground-level International Arrivals, distinct from the main Level 2 checkpoint the rest of the airport uses.
- Everyone arriving from abroad: clear customs.
- If you're connecting onward: go through TSA screening again at the International Arrivals checkpoint, then continue to your next gate.
Passport control at SLC: half of passengers were through within 17 minutes; one passenger in ten waited about 36 minutes or more (GateCast estimate from US Customs and Border Protection wait data, Sep 2025 to Sep 2026).
Tips
- Check your boarding pass for which concourse both your flights use — Delta is mostly A, most other airlines are mostly B.
- Need to get from Concourse A to Concourse B, or back? Ask airport staff for the shortest route.
- Landing internationally, budget for a second security line at the dedicated International Arrivals checkpoint, on top of the passport-control queue.
Checked 29 September 2026; the gate lines were read on 13 October 2026. Terminals, concourses and construction change, so confirm with the airport and your airline before you travel.
